Ilham Aliyev Receives Newly Appointed Ambassador of Laos to Azerbaijan

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Ambassador of Laos, Siphandon Oybuabuddin, on November 3.

The head of state emphasized that the ambassador presented his credentials following last month's official visit to Azerbaijan by Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. President Ilham Aliyev noted that the visit was highly successful, adding that the trip, which demonstrated the friendly nature of bilateral relations, featured discussions on strengthening ties and cooperation within international organizations.

The President of Azerbaijan noted Laos's high-level participation in the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Baku. The head of state highlighted CICA's growing international standing and noted the significance of Laos becoming a full member of the organization during Azerbaijan's chairmanship. President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the support of all member states, including Laos, regarding the decision to extend Azerbaijan's CICA presidency for another two years, describing it as a sign of respect for the country.

The head of state wished the ambassador success in his diplomatic mission.

Expressing thanks for the reception, the ambassador conveyed greetings and best wishes from Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith to the head of state.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed appreciation for the greetings and warm words and asked the ambassador to convey his own greetings to the Lao leader.

The ambassador also noted that the President of Laos reiterated his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for the hospitality extended during his official visit to Azerbaijan. He extended an invitation from the Lao President to the head of state to pay an official visit to Laos.
