The dates for the 2027 Asian Cup, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, have been changed.
Operativ Media reports that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has proposed holding the tournament from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028. The new dates have been submitted to FIFA for approval.
The competition was originally scheduled to take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027. The decision was reportedly prompted by the situation in the region, severe logistical challenges, and transport disruptions.
A total of 24 national teams will compete in the tournament. Qatar is the reigning champion.
