Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde is open to leaving the Catalan club during the January transfer window.

Having lost his place in the starting lineup under head coach Hansi Flick, the 23-year-old player is considering a move to secure regular playing time, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports, according to Operativ Media.

Several English Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, are reportedly monitoring the Spanish defender's situation. Balde wants to restore his confidence by leaving his home club and continuing his career in England.

Although injuries in defense allowed Balde to feature in matches against PSG, Real Madrid and Alaves, he has not yet established himself as a starter this season. Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart are currently preferred in his position.

According to reports, the coaching staff feels the player makes lapses in concentration and struggles to make correct decisions when pressing.

Ahead of the match against Alaves, Hansi Flick commented on the defender's current form: “Balde currently lacks the necessary confidence and determination in his play. And defenders are very important.”

The German manager previously spoke positively about the player on September 15 and noted on October 16 that he was working hard in training. Flick emphasized at the time that Cancelo and Espart are also options in Balde's position.
