Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Sylvie Baïpo-Temon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Central Africans Abroad of the Central African Republic, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Operativ Media reports that this was shared on the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's X social media account.

According to the post, the sides discussed the prospects of bilateral relations, emphasizing the strategic importance Azerbaijan attaches to strengthening ties with African countries, as well as expanding cooperation in political, economic, cultural, educational, and scientific fields.

Cooperation within the UN, the African Union, and other multilateral platforms was also reviewed during the meeting. The ministers noted with satisfaction that students from the Central African Republic benefit from educational scholarship programs established by Azerbaijan for citizens of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement.

To formalize these new diplomatic ties, the ministers signed a "Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic."

"This historic document opens a new page in our relations and creates a solid foundation for expanding bilateral contacts in the coming years," the post said.
