Volkswagen posts €5.8 billion loss in third quarter
German automaker Volkswagen Group suffered a net loss of €5.8 billion in July–September 2026.
Operativ Media reports, citing the company's quarterly financial statement.
According to the report, the company's loss stood at just over €1 billion in the same period last year, meaning Volkswagen's losses grew nearly sixfold year-on-year.
Total revenue for the reporting period reached €75 billion, down 6.3 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
Between July and September, Volkswagen Group delivered approximately 1.9 million vehicles to customers, representing a 14.3 percent decline year-on-year.
The company attributed the drop in sales to U.S. tariffs, weakening demand in China, and intensifying competition in the European market.
Volkswagen Chief Financial Officer Arno Antlitz said: "The financial results for the first nine months clearly show that we cannot waste time and must act decisively."
