Media and Broadcasting Council: False statements falsely attributed to Azerbaijani President circulating on Turkish social media
False statements falsely attributed to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan have been observed circulating on social media in Turkey.
The Media and Broadcasting Council said in a statement, Operativ Media reports.
It was noted that attributing remarks to the head of state that he never made and presenting them as his official stance is a gross example of disinformation intended to mislead the public.
"We emphasize once again that the primary and official source for information regarding the speeches, statements, and activities of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the head of state's official website and social media accounts. When preparing and disseminating information on this subject, reference must be made specifically to those sources, and statements or views presented on other platforms should not be attributed to the head of state without confirmation from official sources," the statement stressed.
The Media and Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan urges media entities and social media users to take a responsible approach to fact-checking, verify information with official sources prior to sharing, and refrain from spreading disinformation.
