Pashinyan: We will publish new draft Constitution in November
1 min read

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that the country's new draft Constitution will be published in November and submitted for public discussion.

Operativ Media reports that he made the remarks during a joint committee meeting of the National Assembly discussing the draft law "On the 2027 State Budget of the Republic of Armenia."

According to Pashinyan, public feedback will be accepted once the draft is published, and discussions will continue until there is confidence that the new draft Constitution has undergone sufficient public debate.

The prime minister noted that one of the key tasks facing the government is the signing and ratification of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. In this context, he said, the opposition has raised the question of whether adopting a new Constitution will guarantee peace with Azerbaijan.

Pashinyan stated that the government's efforts in the near future will focus on addressing these questions. He expressed confidence that if the ruling majority provides a positive and convincing answer, a vast majority of Armenian citizens will vote for the new Constitution in a referendum.

The prime minister added that if the parliamentary opposition opposes the adoption of the new Constitution despite positive answers, it would be viewed, in his opinion, as the opposition being against peace with Azerbaijan.
