A delegation led by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has paid an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Prosecutor General's Office told Operativ Media about this.

During the visit, the Prosecutor General attended the 7th meeting of the Prosecutors General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states held in the city of Turkistan.

Speaking at the event, Kamran Aliyev said that the digital transformation course, initiated in Azerbaijan by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and defined as one of the state's strategic priorities, is currently being successfully continued under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

It was noted that the main goals of the Azerbaijan Digital Development Council, established in February of this year and chaired by the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, are to strengthen the country's technological potential and digital sovereignty, as well as to promote the transition to an innovation-based economic model.

The Prosecutor General highlighted the "Electronic Prosecution" Information System (EPIS), established by presidential decree in 2021, as one of Azerbaijan's key achievements in this area. It was noted that EPIS currently includes modules for electronic document management, investigation, public prosecution, international legal cooperation, crime mapping, and electronic inquiries. Artificial intelligence technologies are used in several of these modules. The system is also integrated into the Electronic Government Information System.

During the visit, the Prosecutor General also held a number of bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts.

During the meeting with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Prosecutor General Mohammad Kazem Movahedi-Azad expressed special gratitude to the head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, for the humanitarian aid provided by the Republic of Azerbaijan in light of recent events in the region.

Subsequently, views were exchanged on further developing cooperation between the prosecution authorities of the two countries, expanding the exchange of professional experience and information, as well as opportunities for more effective use of mutual legal assistance mechanisms.

At the same time, the importance of strengthening stability and security in the region, and enhancing joint activities in the fight against terrorism, illicit drug trafficking, and other forms of transnational crime was emphasized.

In a bilateral meeting with the delegation led by the Deputy Attorney General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Umer Aslam Khan, the high-level relations existing between our countries, prospects for developing cooperation between law enforcement agencies, as well as the continuation of mutual support within international organizations were discussed.

During the bilateral meetings, a productive exchange of views was also held on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, combating the laundering of criminally obtained property, corruption offenses, and other issues of mutual interest.
