Azerbaijan Group of 'Peace Bridge' Initiative Responds to Biased Stance of Armenian Media

Peace Bridge” Initiative's Azerbaijan group has expressed deep disappointment over the biased attitude shown by the Armenian media and the unacceptable tone in public discussions regarding the diplomatic corps' visit to the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 11-12, 2026.

Operativ Media presents the statement issued by the group in this regard:

“First of all, the diplomatic corps' visit to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan cannot be a subject of dispute in itself. In particular, the offensive statements directed at ambassadors and states for participating in this visit are concerning and contradict Armenia's commitment to recognize Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Azerbaijan and Armenia are currently in a post-conflict phase, and both countries face the responsible mission of overcoming the consequences of decades of confrontation. As part of peace initiatives, we—representatives of civil society—are taking steps, with the support of the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia, to support the peace process, promote dialogue, and contribute to confidence-building measures.

The cultural heritage on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan belongs to the Azerbaijani people and is protected by the state.

To ensure justice, cultural heritage must be discussed based on the principles of reciprocity and open dialogue. To achieve these goals, civil society representatives have established a platform for professional discussion of issues that are an integral part of the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The peace process must not be subjected to pressure from revanchist forces, as this could seriously jeopardize progress toward peace. We call on Armenian society to show restraint in this regard and not to fuel the malicious agenda of certain individuals in Armenia and beyond.
