Celtic has reported a post-tax loss of €5.6 million for the financial year ending June 30, 2026.

Operativ Media reports, citing the BBC, that the Scottish club had recorded a profit of €39.5 million in the previous financial year.

A primary factor in the decline of the club's financial performance was Celtic's failure to qualify for the 2026/27 Champions League.

The club's revenue fell by 22.7 percent compared to the previous year, dropping to €129.3 million from €167.3 million in 2025. Cash in bank accounts also decreased from €90.1 million to €77.4 million.

In the summer of 2026, Celtic spent €36.8 million on new player transfers. The club signed several players, including Kasper Heg, Camilo Duran, and Mika Baur, and also brought in four players on loan.

The income generated from the sale of players, including Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, and Reo Hatate, was not disclosed.

Celtic is competing in the Europa League for the 2026/27 season, having been eliminated from the Champions League after a loss to LASK in the play-off round of the qualifying stage.

Having also exited the Scottish League Cup, Celtic's lead in the domestic league has narrowed to two points following defeats to Rangers in the last two rounds.

Brian Wilson, the interim chairman of the club's board, described the past year as "dramatic" and emphasized the importance of improving communication with fans. The search for a permanent chairman is ongoing.
