Azerbaijani language class hours to be increased in classes taught in other languages

Weekly hours for the subject "Azerbaijani language as the state language" are being increased in classes where instruction is conducted in other languages.
Operativ Media reports that this was stated by the Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev, at a press conference on the new academic year.
According to him, starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, the weekly teaching load for this subject will be increased by one hour in each of grades I–IX:
"Thus, the total weekly teaching load will be 32 hours. Currently, weekly class hours in grades I–V will be increased from 3 to 4, and in grades VI–IX from 3 to 4. In grades X and XI, the weekly hours are planned to be increased from 2 to 3."
